Factors controlling the corrosion resistance of gabions should pay attention to four points:
1, the solidity of the plating: Once the plating is broken, the gabion mesh is easily corroded. Since gabion mesh is twisted and woven, the requirement for the firmness of the plating is relatively high.
2, the choice of material: because the corrosion rate of aluminum-zinc alloy gabion mesh is relatively low, aluminum-zinc alloy gabion mesh corrosion performance is much greater than that of galvanized steel wire, so the gabion mesh material is best to choose the alloy.
3, the uniformity of the coating: the coating is distributed in a circular shape on the outer surface of the steel wire, the poor production process of the plated steel wire is thick on one side and thin on the other, and the control point of its service life is weak. That is, although the weight of the plating can reach 250g/㎡, the amount of effective plating really available is only about 100g/㎡. And the plating of 10% aluminum-zinc alloy steel wire is more uniform.
4, the number of galvanized layers: the more galvanized layers, the greater the corrosion resistance and the smaller the corrosion rate. Therefore, gabion mesh with several layers of zinc can well stop the corrosion of gabion mesh.
